The gym at the Peterborough Community Center
The Peterborough Recreation Department manages three properties: the Peterborough Community Center, Adams Park, and the Marshall-Thomas Recreation Area at Cunningham Pond.
The Peterborough Community Center (the former Armory building at 25 Elm Street) is being continually improved. The newly refurbished rooms are ready for recreation and rental purposes at $35/hour, with special pricing packages available for certain combinations of rooms. With the construction of ADA compliant restrooms, the building now has the usage capacity of 300 people. A complete kitchen renovation was completed in March 2015.

Within the confines of Adams Park are a number of recreational amenities to enjoy. There are two softball fields and a Cal Ripken-sized baseball field, a skate park, four tennis courts which also serve as eight pickleball courts, a basketball court, two gazebos, two Ga-Ga pits, Adams Pool, Adams Playground, and the Peterborough Recreation Department headquarters. Public restrooms are available at the PRD office.
The gazebos are available first come-first served. If you would like to rent a gazebo at $15/hour, you are guaranteed it's availability for your use. Call the PRD at 924-8080 to check rental availability.
Adams Pool underwent a tremendous renovation in time for summer 2013. New features include a covered spiral slide into the pool; stairs into the pool for a more gradual entry; a hydrolic Hoyer lift; a diving board; and a zero-depth splash pad with numerous spraying apparatus.
Adams Pool is usually open from the last day of public school to the second or third week of August, depending on staff availability.
When the Marshall-Thomas Recreation Area at Cunningham Pond was donated to the town, the residents voted at Town Meeting to allow access to Peterborough residents and their guests only. The pond is a "swim at your own risk" facility. Supervised swimming occurs during the hours of 11:00am to 8:00pm from Memorial Day through Labor Day, depending on lifeguard availability.
Pets are allowed on the grassy area or the boat ramp area of the pond. Pets must be on a leash when not swimming and are not allowed on the beach.
Parking permits are mandatory from Memorial Day through Labor Day. We expect to have 2018 stickers available starting May 1st. The first sticker per Peterborough household is free; each subsequent sticker issued to that same household costs $10. Residents may pick up a guest pass at the PRD office.
Non-resident parking permits: On 6/6/17, the Peterborough Select Board and Peterborough Recreation Committee agreed to offer the first opportunity for non-residents to purchase a limited number of Cunningham Pond parking stickers. A limited number of 2018 non-resident parking stickers may now be purchased for $100 on a first-come, first-served basis at www.peterboroughrec.com or by calling us at 924-8080. We will notify you when pre-purchased stickers are available to be picked up- right around May 1st.
