The Peterborough Heritage Commission's mission is to protect Our Town's architectural, historical and cultural heritage in order to sustain the spirit of the community and its economic vitality for the benefit of future generations.

Again, discussing options for commemoration of the historic area the new Scott-Farrar construction will be replacing.
Scott-Farrar presented three options for their "mitigation" efforts:
   1) Historical photo display, maybe a map at the Monadnock Center for History and Culture downtown temporarily and in the new facility when completed.
   2) Book shelf in their Reading Room with local historical books with possible dedication labels naming Mary (Duffy) and Rick Monahon.
   3) Guidebook / Walking Guide; reprint old walking tour guide and update with Elm Street corridor and SF history, no advertisements.

Heritage Commission requested a limited history and photo display for public awareness  of the demolition and new construction, until the building is finished.
Debby Kaiser reminded us that the history there involves not only the SF, but the mill area as well, and the history of Elm St.

Members representing Scott-Farrar left at 6pm

Minutes of 7/18/13 and 8/8/13 meetings were accepted as corrected.

Demolition Committee membership reviewed. Discussed current procedure and forms required for demolition. D. Simpson shared that present forms were time consuming to complete. Tyler suggested that Dario be contacted and invited to meet with Heritage Commission for full discussion. All voiced agreement.

Discussed development of a subcommittee to gather details regarding requirements and responsibilities for both State and National Register. David, Melissa and Andrea agreed to work on this subcommittee. Considered longer term plan of possibly interviewing owners whose property may be eligible for Registry.

D. Kaiser reported that Duffy Monahon's papers are in the basement of the Town House for anyone on Heritage Commission interested in research materials.

D. Simpson requested that meeting notes reflect that David recused himself from participation in meeting with Scott Farrar representatives.

Meeting adjourned 6:35 pm
