POSTPONED - Planning Board Meeting Scheduled for 3/19/18

The Planning Board Meeting originally scheduled for Monday March 19, 2018 at 6:30 PM has been postponed to Monday April 9, 2018 at 6:30 PM in the Select Board Meeting Room. 

The previously noticed Preliminary Consultation – Design Review for The Cobbs at Noone Falls located at 50 Jaffrey Road, Parcel Numbers U020-0024-000 will be the first item on the agenda. Any questions about his matter should be directed to the Office of Community Development at 924-8000 x104.

Zoning Amendments to appear on the May 8, 2018 Ballot

Following duly notice public hearings,the Planning Board voted to place four proposed  Zoning Amendments on the written ballot as follows: 

 Amendment A -  Groundwater Protection Overlay Zone -To clarify “Applicability” and “Performance Standards” with respect to how the overlay zone applies in small lot size subdivisions.

Amendment B - Solar Energy Systems - to add a new section that establishes permitted uses, standards, and regulatory review requirements for solar energy systems.

Amendment C - Zoning Simplification - to repeal the existing residential, commercial, office, and mixed-use zoning districts and the Traditional Neighborhood Overlay Zones I and II and replaces these districts with new districts and regulations that integrate existing uses and standards into simplified five residential and mixed-use districts.  The ordinance also adds a set of “Building Types and Standards” with the intent of replicating the look and feel of Peterborough.  It also revises and integrates minimum parking standards into the district standards.

Amendment D - Accessory Dwelling Unit - to eliminate the requirement of owner occupancy for Accessory Dwelling Units and ensure minimum parking requirements are consistent with other sections of the Zoning Ordinance.

The Planning Board will host two public information sessions to review the proposed amendments with Community Members and answer questions prior to voting day.  The first such session will be held on April 14, 2018 at 10 am - location to be determined. 

The second session will be held on Monday April 16, 2018 at 6:30 PM in the Select Board Meeting Room

Town Meeting Voting Day will be on Tuesday May 8 in the Upper Hall at the Town House.

Election of Town Officers

According to Annual Town Meeting held March 9, 1943, the town voted to adopt the provisions of Chapter 22, Laws of 1943, “an act to provide for non-partisan ballot system for town elections.”

The first article of the Town Warrant will be to choose Town Officers. All candidates for elective office must be registered voters of Peterborough and are required to file with the Town Clerk. The filing period will begin March 21, 2018 during the hours of 8:30AM through 4:00PM. The period ends on March 30, 2018 when the hours on that date will be from 8:30AM through 5:00PM.

Effective Monday, March 5, 2018, the following roads will be posted temporarily prohibiting all vehicles weighing in excess of (6) six tons from traveling on these roads until further notice:

 The weight limit will be lifted as soon as the roads sufficiently dry in the springtime to allow normal traffic without causing pavement and shoulder breakup.

Winter Parking Ban

Per 156-17 of the Town Code Book, no vehicles are permitted to park in or on the Town roads or right-of-ways between the hours of 11:00pm and 6:00am from November 1 to April 1st.  The Town has a right to tow or ticket violators. 
The purpose of this winter parking ban is to allow winter maintenance crews unobstructed snow removal and ice control routes.
